Why is DJ Quik so unappreciated?

DJ Quik should be considered one of the intregal parts of not just west coast or g funk, but hip hop in general. unlike dre, he was actually a capable song writer himself, see tonite, and he ended mc eihts life on dollaz and sense. you can see his longevity and the quality of his production here
i guess my question is, why would someone that has obviously had such a large influence on hip hop have such a small national legacy?

I'm not sure how old you are but anyone with the moniker DJ is not a legitimate artist in my book. I guess I'm officially the old man now.

Quick is Thy Name. Is there a better intro song on an artists first record than that one? I'll take it a little further and say best opening lyric on an album. amirite? damn straight.
