Who's going to MuteMath at the varsity Oct 23?

Who else will be there? I will be insanely rocking my face off...
In case some of you aren't familiar with this band, they are one of those bands that put out a decent album that you think is ok, then you see them live and they completely surpass your expectations and make you love the album. I felt that way about their recent album Odd Soul until I heard them riff it live. COMPLETELY blew me away.
Here are some examples. Their lead vocalist/keyboardist does a sick organ solo in this song.

And in this one, they set a 6:4 time signature and change it up later on. This one is really fun to play.

And this one you guys may have heard in some ESPN cut scenes to commercials during football games. I know I noticed it.

I think this band has some serious talent. Being a bass player, it does bother me that the bassist plays with a pick about 90% of the time. I think bass sounds so much cleaner without the clunk. I can barely listen to Kings of Leon without wanting to pull my hair out because of it.
Besides that, their lead singer is insanely talented on keys and in the vocal department. Darren King is one of the best drummers I have ever seen. I like his style more than Neil Pert (who I also think is extremely talented) because he makes his set sound so much bigger than it is.
Do yourself a favor and check them out. $22 bucks is a small price to pay for a sick band.
Enjoy this last clip. This is one of their first jams called Reset. No vocals; all energy and sweet instruments.

I'm going, but because I have a free ticket.
This is a good band for the Varsity to get, but doc acted like this was the Rolling Stones coming.
I'm saving my money to see Jack White, Neil Young, Gary Clark Jr, and the Avett Brothers a few days later.

Haha, well cut the guy some slack. MuteMath is extremely talented.
The way music used to be in the past, it seemed like there were a few elite bands that dominated. But now with the exploding social media, we get to enjoy much more diverse sounds and great bands, even the obscure ones.
And no, I'm not joking. See them and you will know what I'm talking about. I showed a girl I knew a video of them in concert (I think on Palladia) and she could not stop watching it, regardless of the music. They are energetic, entertaining, and very talented.

I get it and know how talented they are, but they aren't traditional and aren't going to be everybody's cup of tea.
Their drummer is amazing and they come together to really produce a tight sound.
But 3 days later I'll be seeing Gary Clark, Jr, Avett Brothers and Neil Young within a 6 hour time frame. Any one of the three is better than seeing Mutemath.

I've seen them all except Gary Clark Jr (who I have heard nothing but good things about and will be seeing at Voodoo).
Neil Young is a legend and one of the greatest performers of all time. He still puts on a great show and jams the frick out.
Jack White is well on his way to becoming a legend and also gives a phenomenal live performance.
And guess what- they both are better songwriters than MuteMath. Don't try to deny it, TheDock.

I'll give Gary Clark his props for being a good musician...
BUT..
There is NO way that dude puts on a better live show than Mutemath. Sorry.
He just stands there playing his guitar. He doesn't run around, jump out in the crowd, or interact with the crowd much.
Other than that, I can't wait to see Mutemath at the Varsity.

I am strongly of this opinion, as are many here who have seen them live and know what they are capable of.
They are great musicians and the albums are good, but as I said earlier, they will completely surpass your expectations when you see them live.
They don't just play; they PERFORM. It's an amazing, energetic show and I strongly recommend you guys see it. Yea, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I can guarantee 95% of the people in there will be into it whether they've seen them before or not.
