All jokes aside in that comment to which he used the quote to respond you are the definition of willful ignorance. The point of that quote is to purposefully ignore history is to remain in a state of childhood. Childhood being a lack of true understanding of the world around you and how the world came to be the way that it is. You have no context by which to compare your modern music.

I'm not a particularly a huge Rolling Stones fan, but I know a little about who they are because they have been very influential to how music is today. It helps me to enjoy, to understand, and to put into context the music that I do really enjoy.
