Green gasoline will be back, the guitar player is from BR. That is the 2nd show they've played in BR in 3 weeks.

Not sure I'd throw Christworm into stoner metal those boys are raw

I dont even know of a new band from LA I'd consider stoner metal if someone has any suggestions? Green gas is thrashy, ventruss is kinda emo/death...I used to play in slounge and we had a couple stony riffs but alas it wasn't meant to be

I’ve just become aware that G-Town’s finest, 4 Mag Nitrous, just dropped a new album and is playing Basin next month.

Do they count?

Including doom?

Forming The Void are a doom metal band residing in Lafayette, Louisiana. Since 2013 this quartet has composed their own distinctive mix of doom with progressive rock, classic rock, sludge and even subtle elements of gothic rock and grunge.

Eyehategod
Arson anthem
Outlaw order
The slugs (what essentially became DOWN)

What makes "stoner metal" different from regular metal?

I know there are subgenres but can anyone explain the difference to someone that doesnt regularly listen to "metal" (death, thrash, stoner metal etc..)

Stoner is slow metal — played out of tune a lot. It’s primarily influenced by the 1970’s acts like Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath, and also very much influenced by Melvins and Black Flag. Stoner metal sounds like heavy space rock at times. But as Crowbar frontman Kirk Windstein says, “slower is heavier”.

Death and Black metal have elements of thrash and punk and sludge, but it’s often faster and definitely more abrasive.

Thrash metal has been done to death.

Listen to eyehategod’s first album or Kyuss or Fu Manchu and then listen to something like Exhorder or Anthrax or old MetallicA even. Stoner metal is just unmistakable.

I listened to a few songs from Eyehategod's first album and while it not my thing now as I am more mellow it did bring back memories of these 2 albums I bought back in the day.

Maybe these bands got inspiration form the heavy/dark stuff from the 70's?
