I really like Southern Rock Opera, but you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I'm glad you've finally seen the light.
OP, I'd save Brighter Than Creations Dark for last. When I first dug in, I only liked their upbeat stuff and found a lot of their slower material depressing. After a while of listening and learning, I finally gave that album a fair chance; now, it's probably my favorite from top to bottom. Understanding their personalities and journey goes a long way with DBT imo

Nah, I never bashed them as a group. I've always liked Cooley songs. I've learned to love Isbell songs, and he may now have my 1 and 2. I dislike Hood as a musician and a person.

Dislike Hood as a person? He's the nicest, most approachable member of the band. Like him or not, the Drive-by Truckers wouldn't be here w/o him. They need his charisma on stage, and Living Bubba is a top 5 Truckers song.
