What is considered "contemporary rock"? You have examples?

That self album is really good, I saw the lead singer still does shite every now and then in Nashville.. hum is a bucket list band since I wasn't able to go to the River Center show they played with Bush & Toadies, but who knows if they will ever tour again

My favorite random deep cut
Under Smithville by For Squirrels

Here is no Why from the Pumpkins
Maybe the most underrated song of the 90's.. it's in my top 3 of songs on Mellon Collie possibly #1

I change my opinion on the best 90s song, but right now I'd go with Everlong by Foo Fighters.. I've heard it a million times and it never gets old

And finally the best song on a terrible album - I Don't Care by Coward

For the purposes of this post, I am mostly sticking to “post-grunge” and avoiding bands with more influences from pop punk, emo, post-hardcore, and rap.

Original Fire - Audioslave
Revelations - Audioslave
Slither - Velvet Revolver
Cold - Crossfade
My Own Prison - Creed
Shameful Metaphors - Chevelle
The Red - Chevelle
Jambi - Tool
The Pot - Tool
Anna Molly - Incubus
Fly From the Inside - Shinedown
Skin - Breaking Benjamin
Bring Me to Life - Evanescence
Hemorrhage - Fuel
Hanging By A Moment - Lifehouse
Spin - Lifehouse
Meant to Live - Switchfoot
Remedy - Seether
Metalingus - Alter Bridge
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
The Pretender - Foo Fighters

Yeah, that's a strong contender. I despise the acoustic version that went viral from Stern or whatever. The vast energy and drive of the ORIGINAL ELECTRIC version should not be insulted with that dumbing down.

I think my favorite 90’s song might be “Black” by Pearl Jam, but Everlong is a good choice. I really struggle to find very many truly outstanding songs from that decade that are obviously better than the rest. The 90’s are like that team that never has a losing record, is in the playoffs every year, only occasionally reaches the conference finals, and never wins a title.

Couldn't agree more. I wasn't much into it at the time, and it hasn't improved with age.

90’s rock is like that plain wholesome girl that you go on a date with even though you aren’t super into her, but she’s nice and never does anything so offensive that you feel you have to break up with her. Then you look up and realize that the two of you have been dating for 3 years already, and you’re like “how the f$&k did that happen?”

Built to Spill- Carry the Zero is my favorite song of all-time, so obviously my favorite of the 90s as well. Not really sure if that classifies as “contemporary” rock or not.

If we talking some rock albums from the 90s i think are great..

Offspring - ixnay on the hombre
Live - throwing copper
Bush - sixteen stone
Green Day - dookie
Korn - Korn
deftones - around the fur
Red hot- blood sugar sex magic

2000s
Linkin Park - Meteora
Deftones - deftones(my fav next to around the fur)
foo Fighters - either one by one or in your honor
System of a down - toxicity

And my apologies if this isnt contemporary but when i search contemporary it just says modern rock.
