Just heard it and it reminded me that I've been trying to get an answer. I'll be honest. I have no idea what the hell this song is about, what it means, or what they're trying to tell me through song.....
quote:
Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over-bored and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay
And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial

He was probably high as hell when he wrote that. Makes no damn sense.

Wikipedia is your friend.
In a January 1994 Rolling Stone interview, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain revealed that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was an attempt to write a song in the style of the Pixies, a band he greatly admired. He explained:[4]
I was trying to write the ultimate pop song. I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it. When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily that I should have been in that band—or at least a Pixies cover band. We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard.
Cobain came up with the song's title when his friend Kathleen Hanna, at the time the lead singer of the riot grrrl punk band Bikini Kill, spray painted "Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" on his wall. Since they had been discussing anarchism, punk rock, and similar topics, Cobain interpreted the slogan as having a revolutionary meaning. What Hanna actually meant, however, was that Cobain smelled like the deodorant Teen Spirit, which his then-girlfriend Tobi Vail wore. Cobain later claimed that he was unaware that it was a brand of deodorant until months after the single was released.[10]

That doesn't really have anything to do with the meaning of the lyrics, just an explanation of why it was written. I am beginning to think it is just a mix of random words that fit together.

Thats all it was.
Anyone trying to convince you otherwise is lying to you.

I think it's about the inner connection of different types of people and things. Whether something be dangerous or safe, mulatto or albino... There is something each denies and something that brings "teens" together as a group, even if they aren't similar is most normal aspects...
Thats my attempt to make sense out of jibberish...

Some fanboy will suggest it has some inspirational message no doubt. But it, like many other Nirvana songs, is jibberesh screamed over amazing music.

If ambiguous lyrics prove a band's stupidity then majority of bands are probably dumb.

Not everything has meaning or needs it to be great.
Louie louie, anyone? If it has meaning, who can access it?
Why can't a song with 'short range order' make just enough sense to make you think and not enough long range order to make you talk 20y later... and want to know?
See, it did that.
Stop trying to tie meaning to enjoyment and greatness.
