What happened to Zac Brown Band

Were having a nice run for a while a few years back with multiple chart toppers.
Was it the Luke Bryan comment Zac Brown had made?
They've been collaborating with Dave Grohl and released their new album, but obviously it has far more alternative feel to it than country. Maybe taking a break from mainstream country or is he headed for decline for good?
Just wanted some opinions on the matter.

ZBB is headlining a night at Hangout Fest. Maybe evolving sounds?

To their credit, it was going to be near impossible for them to eclipse the previous two.
I think some people are on the fence on whether they want ZBB to be a country artist, the next Buffett, or a hard rock star.
Previous 2 records he was able to make all that work...hasn't come together quite as well since for some reason.
