When I am looking for a FLAC version of a CD I own, I use metasearch<dot>torrentproject<dot>com. It searches across 10 or so torrent sites. I support musicians by buying their product and only use it for titles I already own.

Mediafire scraped their servers after the big scare. Not much there anymore.

I've tried TorrentDay but they pretty much suck as far as music is concerned.

Isohunt for movies - I think there is some music on there, but it's hit or miss (usually you get huge collections).

Happy hunting.

Going to their shows supports them more. Buying an album is for the record label mostly. But yes, it does more for the band regardless.

I only buy albums from my truly favorite bands. Last few albums I bought was the new one from the Deftones, Chevelle, Incubus.

I pay the $10/month subscription to Spotify for mainstream stuff. They satisfy 80% of my tastes and it eases my conscience about stealing music. Fortunately there is what.cd for what I can't find on Spotify. Largest repository of music in the history of the world, absolutely invaluable for music lovers. Nothing else comes close.

I do. I go to a lot of shows as well.

But if it's a band I've never heard before, I'll go the free route for the album. If I really really dig it, I'll reward them on the next go-round by buying their sophomore effort.
