America, June 1st, 1979. BR Centroplex

Crazy trivia bit here... Ten years later I spent the summer working in Jacksonville with my brother, before actually moving there. I left right after finals, last week of May. My first day there I had the radio on and heard a commercial for America in concert, at a small club called Papa’s... On June 1st, 1989. Of course I had to go. Got my brother to go with me.

Janet Jackson. Rhythm Nation at SuperDome. 1989. I was 5. And my memory is that it was awesome.

Jethro Tull in 1976 at the Municipal Auditorium in Nola. The smoke that night looked like rain clouds. What a great show.

Man, I would have loved to have seen them. I actually like their stuff better than most Rolling Stones stuff.

Neither Keith nor Ron can sing worth a damn, but just the raw energy in their music is pure rock and roll to me !

Motley Crue in 1987 at the UTC Roundhouse in Chattanooga. There was this unknown band that opened for them named Guns ‘N Roses.

Tommy Keene and Jason and the Scorchers, Washington, D.C.. March, 1984.

Saw Jason and the Scorchers at the LSU Cotillion Ball room in 86-ish...when LSU Union Events Council actually allowed stuff like that. Quite a show.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers also performed that same venue in 85 or 87. Have the concert flyer for that somewheres.

Jimmy Buffett at the venue now called Jiffy Lube Live (don't know what it was called then).

This was 1995, give or take a year. I went with two brothers, who are six and nine years older than me. I was still a young buck. The only thing I remember about the concert is how much I puked. (again, I was a young buck, and was swilling beers).

Steve Miller Band who opened up for Leon Russell. Memphis 1972. Drank heavily before the show and snuck in a pint of tequila. But the second concert has a little interesting note. I was in the USMC at the time stationed in Ca. 1973. A buddy asked me if I wanted to go to a concert in Malibu. Sure I said, who is playing? Doobie Brothers (wasn't to thrilled) Savoy Brown (who was excellent), then he said there is group from Texas called ZZ Top. Never heard of them I said. He assured me that they were good. They opened up and came out wearing cowboy hats, boots no long beards. I was prepared for some country music. Man was I wrong. They absolutely blew everyone else out of the water. Been a huge fan since. Man I sure do miss the 70's.
