See them live. totally different band. I'm kind of indifferent to thier albums, but they are such a phenomenal live act.
I do find that there are no music fans more defensive than "classic rock" fans. How dare music move past 1975? I hate the term "classic rock". I just like rock n roll. As soon as something becomes "classic" it stops progressing. It's like admitting that you like things static. Like rock -- some bands will be old, some new. I don't think of the Rolling Stones as classic rock, I think of them as THE rock n roll band.

Bon Iver is symbolic of the wussification of indie rock. Seriously, it's okay to turn the amp up to 3 or 4, even.

Rush, Rush, Pink Floyd and anything made in the last 15 years. I know I said Rush twice but my hate is that strong. For the people listing The Doors you have to be kidding!!!

i hate bruce springsteen. his songs are cheesy and his face he makes when he sings pisses me off. i respect him, but don't like his music. and to all the pink floyd haters out there.....

They appeal to me because of how mellow they are. It isn't for everyone, as is no specific artist, but for me I really enjoy it.

Radiohead.
I've tried, but I just can't get into them

dude, thats his style. It's unique and intimate and kind of personal and thats why people like it

I actually like Bon Iver, but quiet introspective indie rock is hardly unique. It's all over the place. It's like a generation without any balls. There's been a proliferation of bands afraid to smile or turn their amps up getting raves from the indie press. As a changeup, I like it. As a musical trend, it's boring.
"Soft is the new loud" NO, IT'S NOT. LOUD IS LOUD. Hell, even Ian MacKaye put out a "quiet" record.

I can get behind this a little more.
But its far from "all over the place" IMO. Bon Iver is kind of in a league of his own in terms of that sort of soft indie rock

He definitely has a sound of his own, but soft indie rock has been around for the better part of 2000 and on... And I agree with boring comment, in general... I miss 90's guitar based indie...
Hell, I like Iron & Wine, but just cant get with the BI
This always makes me laugh Bon Joviver

Being tone deaf has nothing to do with musical taste. Taste in music is one of the most subjective things on the planet and no one was trolling. We were having a peaceful conversation about the bands we abhor.

Hate him. Also, my honorable mention for a band I dislike strongly is Van Halen.

yeah, its just mood music for me... I havent bought anything past his first 2 or 3 records though... only because most bands have a very short shelf life for me, especially if its the same record over and over...
