Does anyone have any recommendations on cover bands for a wedding in southwest Louisiana? Obviously looking for fun, dancing music. It'd be great if the band had a horn section that could lead a second line through the reception.

I'll hang up and listen. TIA!

I just got married at the beginning of December in Jackson, MS. I am a musician and I told my wife back when we were planning the wedding that the reception band was the one thing I was going to feel strongly about. Someone recommended Compozitionz (the band is out of Jackson too) to us - the person said they were at a dry wedding and the band had everyone up dancing. We figured if they band could get people going at a dry wedding, wouldn't be a problem at ours - we did have booze. We ended up hiring them and it was one of the best decisions EVER. Four singers and a back-up band of 5 (no horns). From a musicians standpoint, the band is freaking tight as hell. From a pure listening and having fun standpoint, they are 10/10. They play mostly Motown but by the end of the night when mostly young people are left, they'll play rap and party music. EVERYONE told us they were the best band they have ever heard at a wedding reception. We heard the same thing secondhand too which leads me to believe people weren't just saying that. Older people recognized a lot of songs and the younger people had a blast, ie when they got my wife and all her bridesmaids (and my mom) on stage for Brickhouse. I promise you, you'll be happy.

I am not sure if they do weddings, but The Wiseguys are by far the most popular band used by our carnival organization.

My boss' band is pretty awesome.

Phat Hat

Phat Hat is a 9 piece horn driven band that specializes in the funk and dance favorites of the 70's, 80's and 90's. In addition to a killer horn section, Phat Hat features great vocals as well as a smoking rhythm section that is guaranteed to make the party move! Our forte is providing music for wedding receptions and parties. We are flexible in customizing our songlist for any event and are easy to work with regarding special songs for weddings, etc..
