Watching a lot of Eagles videos...

Is there a more skilled musician than Don Felder?
Freakin' amazing.
Such a shame they fell apart in 1980. They could have had 2-3 more classic albums. Their new songs in 1994 were watered-down garbage.

Their 2007 album ain’t bad. The songwriting is better.
“Waiting in the Weeds” is a Top 10 Eagles Song for me.
“How Long” is awesome (although it’s a cover)

Bernie, Felder and Walsh were the great musicians in a band full of singer/songwriters. And, while I love Joe Walsh and Bernie Leadon, neither could hang with Felder on a purely technical level on the guitar.
He immediately made The Eagles into a legitimate rock band. Without Felder, they're barely a folk, novelty act.

I'm not sure - they were so burnt and Henley and Frey were SUCH terrible people, it couldn't have lasted. As it is, the reunion was just a billion dollar cash grab.

From what I understand, Frey was an a-hole who always fought with Felder and Henley tried to stay out of it.
Might be wrong though.

Frey fought with Bernie, Meisner and Felder. Henley reluctantly backed his play in the 1970s.
But, they conspired to screw Felder out of his full 1/3 of The Eagles, Inc. in the early aughts. Joe and Tim were always employed sidemen. They bought Bernie and Randy out when they left and they had to, after a lawsuit, Felder.
Hard to find more slimy, disreputable guys on the musician side (plenty of producers and managers) than Henley and Frey. Just awful... (And I'm a big fan of the music.)

Both needed a good arse-kicking.

Anyone from The Band whose first and last names do not begin with the same letter.

Ace knows the details well of how Felder got hosed on credit for some of the songs.
One of the things that jumped out at me the most when you watch the Showtime documentary is David Geffen says Henley is the biggest egomaniac he has ever met. Think about that. Geffen is one of the preeminent entertainment moguls on the planet.

I’m assuming you mean the one in 94. They spent 6 years working on Long Road Out of Eden.

why, would you do that to yourself
(isn't that like marrying the same woman 7 times or drinking a second bottle of castor oil)

Look what Henley has done on YouTube, blocking and getting eagles stuff removed. You can’t even teach a guitar tutorial of an Eagles song on YouTube. He’s basically denied Eagles music to the next generations so I hope they fade into obscurity.

Man, talk about wasted time. That album sucked. And I have always been a fan.

In general yeah, but Waiting in the Weeds and How Long are both incredible songs.

Ace is correct and Felder wasn't liberal enough for these 2 assholes.

So, they would have been POCO. I always wondered how good Poco could have been with someone like Felder.

It's no secret that Henley and Frey sort of saw the band (at least at inception) as a combination of the FBB and Poco. More proof is that they stole the high singing bass player from Poco - twice.

In Poco's case, I'm not sure a guitar hero could have altered the vision of the band.

Random trivia- POCO had a pretty big hit album with Legend. Do you guys know who designed the album cover art? That's right: Phil Hartman

Phil's brother, John, managed a lot of those bands (America, Poco), both when he was working with Geffen and on his own, so Phil got the graphic design work (his degree was graphic design) via nepotism for those bands.
The famous interlocking "CSN" logo?
He did that, too. He made a living in graphic design in the 1970s.
