Heh - Zevon played 2 concerts at the Varsity, in 1993 and 1994 (I think). The first one hardly had anyone there and I just stood right in front of him. About mid concert he yelled at me "what do you want to hear"? I yelled "Bill Lee" and he just shook his head no, and asked someone else.
Great shows though, especially standing about 10 feet from him while he opened with Splendid Isolation. There were a LOT more people at the concert the next year.
