I ended up going with the KEF iq30's. Assuming I ditch the Sony, what should I get?

Budget? I'd get the best Denon, Onkyo, Marantz etc. that I could in my price range. With all due respect to Sony I am not a fan of their audio products.

The more I research, the more conflicted i am. So many arguments for amp/preamp, integrated amp, and then you have people making sold arguments, saying there's no proof that a new receiver is less quality than an integrated amp

I can certainly tell you that you at least need to go with an integrated amp over a receiver - if sound quality is the most important thing.

As for separates versus an integrated, sure, you could drive yourself crazy trying to decide. Generally, quality separates are way beyond most people's price point. Domestically, it also makes for a different situation as well. You'll have some giant power amp giving off tons of heat, etc.

Luckily, I go to bed at night knowing I've got a integrated I'm very happy with, and I never think about that stuff at all.

Went to a store today and listened to some Paradigm Mini's...sounded good to me, but what do I know?

If it sounds good to you, ythat is the most important thing.

I've got a pair of Paradigm bookshelf speakers (paired with a good sub) that I am very happy with. My Yamaha does a decent job of pushing them but I could use a little more juice (whenever the wife and kids are away).

No respect needed... When it comes to audio, most of their stuff is absolute shite compared to other stuff out there.

They've had some decent ES stuff, but its over priced for what it is.
