Unplayed songs by artists

Why is it that some songs by artists are never played live? Is it because of too much production on the songs? People play with backing tracks so they can still play it.
If an artist can make a song on an album, they should be able to play it live.

Yikes. Who are you going to see live?
Outside of a hip hop show with a dj, not sure ive ever been to a show that a band used a “backing track”.

Supposedly in his personal appearances of the last few years, Frankie Valli has been lip syncing

If a band has a song with strings or Orchestra and they will have a backing track if they play it live

Some bands simply refuse to. Weezer with Pinkerton for sxample.

I totally agree. Rush found ways to integrate keys into live performances. Queen had Spike Edney play keys and guitar parts during live performances.

Mostly just personal preference of the band. Sometimes they get burned out on particular songs, other times they outgrew certain songs and found them to be not good, and other times their styles have changed and those older sounds don't fit or bore them. These are just 3 examples.
Is it frustrating? Sure. But that's the nature of concerts. You are subjected to the desire of the band's wishes, which is as it ought to be.

Grateful Dead recorded Unbroken Chain in 1974 on the From the Mars Hotel album and played it for the first time live in 1995.
