Trying to work out a song, and you know what I wish?

I wish, I had at least messed around with playing drums, a little bit. It's bad, to have something in your head, and not be able to get it to come together.

Listen up kids, no matter what instrument you play, learn a bit about drums.

Seems to have worked out well for Tommy Emmanuel.

Yeah, I’ve run into this same frustration before. My innate lack of coordination does not help matters.

I learned drums first, started playing at 10. I'm glad I did because it instilled a sense of hard rhythm to fall back on when using other instruments. Plus it helps you to understand other bandmates' needs.

I've been trying to learn to use a drum machine, just for doing rough recording at home, but I don't know how to get exactly what I need yet, even with that. I can't make the fills sound right. Thinking about buying a 3 piece kit and seeing what I can do.

Do you know a drummer? A collaborator that fills in some of your gaps can be a net positive.

I know a crap load of drummers, but most of them aren't interested in working on originals. That's always been a problem, to get one to work on rough recording at home.

Once you get to the studio, you can hire a pro, but if you are just at home and want to get an idea down while it's fresh, that's hard.
