I still think it's borderline but I'm not going to argue too much. I think Layla was one of the great albums of all time. Deserted island material for sure.

But it sounds like they were mostly just having fun hanging out.

That's exactly what they were doing. If you go on YouTube and look up some videos of them together it's good stuff.

Harrison, Lynne, and Orbison were eating lunch together and decided to have a recording session. They called up Bob Dylan and asked to use his home studio. Tom Petty only came into it because Harrison had left his guitar at Petty's house and was invited to the session when Harrison went to pick it up.
They recorded "Handle with Care" that day. The record company decided it was too good to be released on its own, and the 5 of them enjoyed working together so much that they decided to record a full album. This all happened over a 10 day period which is why you may think a lot of it sounds like "filler"

It is one of my deserted island records for sure.

Allman was too much a part of the sound of that album not to consider him it, IMO.

They all make better music. Sorry if it doesn't fit your middle-aged agenda.

Some very good bands listed, but still don't see any that come close to the star power of a Beatle, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison

Sure, they have the most star power, but several others made better and more music.

Was Jeff Beck in Cream? I am attempting to discuss without cheating and going to google.

Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker.

I don't consider them a super group. Clapton had plenty of notoriety before joing/forming but the other two, while highly regarded, hasn't achieved mainstream success.

Steve Winwood was supposed to join but Jack Bruce didn't want him, which was a main reason for the band splitting.

ETA: how has no one mentioned tGOAT Super Group: Damn Yankees?!

Tommy Shaw, Ted Nuggent, Jack Blades

I'm sure if those 5 guys would have actually taken it seriously and stayed together for years and gone on tours like Cream or Audioslave then they could've done better.

They were basically only together for 10 days for fun.

In your opinion, fine. Too bad you missed the whole point.

What agenda might that be? Not saying you are an idiot, but you sound like one. Jester is appropriate.
