I have seen toro y moi live twice. Once it was just him and one other guy. More like a fancy DJ set. sucked.
Next time it was with a 5 piece band and it was epically good. It was at a festival, and we weren't planning on watching the whole set but all of us agreed to stay and watch it.
I have seen Neon Indian twice also, and I will never go to another neon indian show. Those two shows would be some of the worst music I have ever seen live. horrific.

Toro y moi is playing SXSW and at Spanish Moon in BR...if it's with a full band, I take it I should try to make it to a show?

Yes. Seen him a few times, including at The Moon (I think); good show.

I'll never forget that Caribou show... Clearly it overshadowed Toro Y Moi. I do remember Caribou playing an entire Tune Yards album while they set up.

yes definitely.
Would love to see caribou.
what I really want to see is caribou vibration ensemble - Caribou + four tet + guy from born ruffians + marshall allen. That live album is epic. we almost flew to see ATP in london as they reprised it but the ATP tickets were like 1k each, so we had to skip.
