That encore sucks until Stinkfest. A bunch of filler

I can’t believe they don’t play 7empest. Agree with everyone. Top 5 Tool song

Also would love to hear Jimmy and H. and Prison Sex but I know they normally don’t.

Lmao, that was my first at a Buc-ees too! We probably passed each other.

Must've been one hell of a party all those chicks were coming from !

. As much as I love Peart, Carey absolutely transcends him as a percussionist.

No. He doesn't. No real drummer would say that.

Hard to explain how I came across this, but I found your review of APC's show at VoodooFest '03, which was my first time seeing them. I just found myself on that page and saw a familiar name and figured it was probably you.

Review by Musick

We got there at about the middle of Queens of the Stone Age's set. They jammed really hard. They left the stage and the roadies went nuts constructing the stage and Maynard's cell. They lifted a black veil with a white circle in the center, and positioned two drums on each side of it. Spotlights were positioned so that the shadows on Maynard's veil could be manipulated. We had the same set as Burbank. The guys finally come out to some mellow synth music and the 50,000+ people go nuts. "Dissappear..." is heard and Vanishing starts of the show, with Maynard hitting drums throughout the first half the song. The crowd was acting better than I thought. I was surprised Maynard wasn't pissed, because when his veil came down during Pet, there were at least 1,000 flash cameras. The flashes were consistent for about the first 4 songs, but Maynard didn't turn his back. The entire band was very into it the whole night. James was rocking out hard, and Jerodie and Billy were jamming hard as usual. Maynard was very physical, twitching and dancing the way that only he can. Jerodie was jamming all over the stage, he was everywhere. Maynard introduced the band with the usual, though Maynard himself, Billy, AND Josh were all AKA Moby... He then said "So apparently New Orleans... Isn't this the place that got Marilyn Manson hooked on drugs and alcohol? Jeordie you can speak for that? Sounds like good times." The opening chords of Weak And Powerless start and he goes, "Suck it, this next song is called suck it, so suck it, actually, all of our songs are called suck it, suck it." In the middle of the set, James sang his I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys, but for the last line he let out a growling scream that Maynard would even be impressed about. He screamed again while Josh and Jeordie just ripped some heavy riffs. The Outsider was extremely intense. That song is so brutal live. Maynard's scream at the end was drawn out, and it sounded awesome. Maynard said "Queens Of The Stone Age, how bout them? ...You know, Troy from QOTSA used to play in a band called Failure... They wrote a song called The Nurse Who Loved Me." He then called Troy out and made him sit right in front of him. "This song is dedicated to everyone, BUT you, fricking prick." They jammed the Nurse, and it was way different than I've heard it live before, really awesome though. Before Gravity they announced The White Stripes were on after them, and the crowd booed, which was surprising. Then Maynard said "Are you bored yet, we could leave... I have this bottle of wine calling my name backstage." Gravity sounded really good, Maynard sang in a much higher key than he does on the album, and Billy's playing live is just extremely intense. They played The Noose too, which sounded amazing live. The wall of sound in this song is just incredible, and hearing it live was very powerful. The set ended with the guys calling Troy back out to play Judith with them. Maynard said "Oh and by the way, Troy, let it be known they were are NOT paying you for this, so don't expect a dime dammit." Judith rocked out with Troy and Billy both playing lead. -Musick

I have a good quality audio recording of the show and I believe I also have video synced up with that audio.

I’m not even kidding when I say that I remember reading your review as I specifically recall your comments on James’ scream during the Backstreet Boys cover and Maynard being envious. I joined that message board soon after voodoo and posted under the name SUB pretty regularly as well so we probably crossed paths 16 years ago. Crazy.

No problem, reading it back all these years later put me right back there, I am a damn good writer with attention to detail when i want to be, I forgot I had that skill.

Just checked the Fresno setlist from last night. They played The Patient and Swamp Song so they're mixing it up some. Hopefully some surprises in NO on Feb 1st.
