I played the hell outta that album, but I don't know that I've ever really had his whole other albums and listened to them as albums and not just individual songs... so I can't really say.. but Wildflowers is packed with good songs.

One of my desert island records. I love it so much that I plunked down just over 200 bucks for a sealed vinyl copy last year sometime.

It was a welcome change to the production of the previous two records, not that those two were bad... Not at all..
I haven't listened to it in years though...

Such a good album. I absolutely wore that thing out when it was released. I'm going to have to listen to it again today.
Some of my friends, who are in other bands, have an "alter ego" band called "Six Tom Petties" where they do nothing but Tom Petty covers. They recently played another friend's wedding, and I"m not sure that I've had a better time listening to a band in a long time. Dancing our asses off and singing along.

Yes. It was during the Wildflowers sessions and I think I remember reading Rick Rubin changed the name of the song and some of the lyrics to make it a little more ambiguous.

You Wreck Me and A Higher Place are a couple of my all-time favorite Petty songs.
