Yep nirvana was destined to burn out at some point. Kurt said it best himself "it's better to burn out than to fade away"

Why? There is no reason to think Dave Grohl would have spent the last 20 years as just a drummer. Cobain was talking about quitting Nirvana or at least taking a break and working with Michael Stipe, who was trying to get him to come to Georgia to work with him around the time of his suicide.
