Tom Petty would have been 76 years old on October 20th. One of my favorites, he had quite a run.
Tom upper right.

And a favorite tune of mine.

A brilliant artist.

...and a brilliant band.

Past my days of great confusion
I've past my days of wondering why
Will I sail into the heavens
Constellations in my eyes?

In the dark of the sun
We will stand together
We will stand as one

Above all others, for me, Tom is the artist I most regret not being able to see live.

And he/they were excellent live.

...but they lost a lot when Stan Lynch left. Steve Ferrone is not very good.

Saw them 4/5 times and it was an excellent show everytime.

The band is world class, and they are effortless in how well they collaborate. To me they are the best American Rock n Roll band ever

He played at the Centroplex in BR in 1981 and put on a really good show. I believe Joe Ely was the opening act.

I totally agree with this.

Elvis Costello reiterated that same thing about T.P. after his passing.

He said during an interview that he didn't make a bad album and the Heartbreakers are great. I think he made a couple of subpar albums toward the end, but he never made a bad one.
