Heard this reviewed on NPR. Different style from what I usually like, but for some reason I really like it all the way through. I'm a sucker for jangly guitars, and this album is full of them, maybe that's it.

I listened to some of their back catalogue and most of it didn't appeal to me, but this album has been at the top of my playlist the last few weeks.

Big fan of them. Their album Twelvefour is my favorite.

ETA: Their album "On the Train Ride Home" was released prior to this one you enjoy. It came out a few months prior and they were kinda released to compliment each other and are really similar, so you may enjoy that one also... I really suggest a further listen of Twelvefour though.

I dig some of their new stuff, but man their first 2 EP’s (Woodland & Young North) were incredible. I wish they would have stuck with that folky, stripped down sound. I feel like they’ve become too over-produced now, but I still enjoy some of their tunes. I’ll have to check this one out. I’ve heard “On The Train Ride Home”, which is kind of like a prequel to the new one, but it didn’t really grab me.

I did find a couple of tunes from twelvefour that I liked, esp. Revelator Eyes.

Twelvefour seems to be the closest they've come to the sound of the new album.

From what I listened to, On the Train Ride Home is more subdued. The new album really pushes the guitar out front, moreso than anything else I have heard by them.

As I said, I their earlier, folkier stuff didn't do anything for me, even though I like a lot of that type music.

The songwriting was so good on those earlier EP’s though, and the tunes better and more upbeat imo. Most of their stuff now is mid-tempo/slow songs that can drag on and get repetitive. That said, I’m still a fan and do still enjoy them.
