The Misfits

I've been on a punk kick lately (these come in cycles), and one thing I always recognize is that the Graves days are pretty damn good. No it's not as great as the Danzig years, but it does hold up pretty well. I think people get so caught up in the whole fight of "Misfits suck without Danzig" that they miss out on some pretty fun tracks.
Forbidden Zone is actually my favorite Misfits song. The Kong intro leading into it is freaking perfect, and the melody in FZ is incredible. Graves can sing!
Top 5 Misfits songs (because we all love Top 5 lists...)
- Forbidden Zone
- Last Caress
- Angelfrick
- Hybrid Moments
- Saturday Night

Saw them with Graves once. At the time, he was clearly late to the death metal party which didn’t really fit with the band. No idea how they evolved.
Met Jerry Only...really nice guy, seemed like.

Wanted to like them. Many bands I liked seemed to love them. So I tried to like them. Last Caress was cool but for me it was because of Metallica covering it.

I like Metallica's cover of Die Die My Darling, but I've not heard their Last Caress one. I'm going to check that out today.
The production of Metallica vs old punk is incomparable. The music is fun, but you have to like that raw sound that the producers and mixers created when putting it to record. I think this is why punk songs sound better when bigger bands cover their songs. I love that raw sound though, so I've always had an affinity to the punk scene. I still spin Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys and The Misfits to this day. Bad Brains and Agnostic Front as well. It's just all pure fun and organized chaos.

I used to be better friends with Michale, he was always a good guy.
Too considerate and positive to be a rock star tbh. Always felt for him for getting the Danzig shite when he really didn't deserve it.

This misfits were a huge part of my coming of age life. The first album I ever stole to have for myself (couldnt afford it back then and no such thing as mp3) was a misfits record which I listened to till it was unplayable.
Flash forward..meeting people you looked up to is one of the worst things sometimes.
Doyle is ok, Jerry..not so much.

Saw them back in 19 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland with The Damned and Rancid. One helluv a kick arse show. Dave Lombardo really gives their music an propulsive energy as only he could.
Was crazy to see the place sold out and packed to the rafters screaming along to every song.
One of the more memorable and enjoyable shows I've seen in a while.
