Quintessential New Orleans.
I have been to many of theirs concerts beginning in the early 1980s.
Jazz Fest, Tipitina’s, theMaple Leaf,
A great date night back in the day was to hear the Meter’s concert while cruising on the river on the Riverboat President.

Their playing on Lady Marmalade by Labelle is pretty good too.

I’d pay good money to go back in time and see them at Maple Leaf or Tips!
You are a lucky man!

Yep! Every member of the Meters was a seriously talented muscian. IMO Cissy Stut is to this day, the best funk song ever recorded.

I'm embarrassed to say, I did not know of the Meters directly until 2007. I knew some of their songs, but did not know it was a Meters song.

I was at Widespread Panic at the Wharf on April 27, 2007 and they played Aint No Use in the first set. Holy shite! I was blown away but could tel it was a cover. I aksed an older head after first set what song it was and by who and I was off to the races with the Meters!
