The Cure - Pornography

What does everyone think of this album?
I have just checked on Wiki and noticed that it did not even chart in America which I found staggering. Overall it is probably my favourite Cure album.
It does not have the poppy hits of later albums but this was the Cure at their darkest and gothic best.
Why did it not do well in America? What is your favourite Cure album? Or do you find the whole gothic scene rubbish?
