but no there is no contest when comparing these two albums; Boston's first went like 17x platinum vs The Cars first at 6x...
That means nothing. Backstreet Boys Millennium sold more than twice that. So which one is a better album?

Both albums are incredible.
You can't compare them to each other, in my opinion.

The Cars. Boston always left me vaguely unsatisfied, and their music hasn't aged well. Boston was very slick but ultimately lifeless, and I've come to truly hate their cloying vocals and guitar tone through much of the album. The Cars OTOH had a raw energy that hasn't dissipated in all this time, and wow, what a synthesis of rock, pop, and new wave.

Wasn't comparing them, just your reasoning.

Hey Cdawg
What's your reason for keeping up with BSB stats?

In general, The Cars make far better albums, while Boston generally makes better songs. If that makes sense.
In the case of these two epic albums, I'd take The Cars simply for originality and cohesiveness.

I'd say Cars, apathetically, based on the fact that Ric Ocasek nailed hotter arse than Delp had ever seen. This is really analogous to determining which of two midgets is the taller.
Also can't argue with you on whether or not that's the GREATEST RIP of all time because that is the first I've ever heard of a guitar rip.
