i hate this saying. how did they sell out exactly? by changing their sound a little bit? bands evolve. it's how it works.

Not sure about selling out, but they definitely became major figs. The too cool for school, talking shite on other bands thing played out pretty fast

Kings of Leon is the most recent "classic example". But it's pretty obvious the PR people have gotten hold of Dan And Patrick. They suddenly became clean shaven, all American boys. Before the Grammy, they were just a scruffy couple of musicians that didn't care how they looked.

i've been listening to the black keys before they "blew up" and I don't think they sold out at all.

I think they got popular

their albums are still really good

If you can't appreciate this tune, then I seriously question your understanding of what good, solid rock music sounds like. Just straight up bluesy rock that anyone w/ a penis should "get."

Just saying that I don't believe that they "sold out"

They just got older and started writing different songs.

Still a great band. The last two records were great.

i don't listen to KOL, so I don't really get the comparison all that much. but last time I checked, TBK still put out fricking amazing music. i don't give a flying rat's arse how they look doing it. saw them in New Orleans a couple months back, and it was one of the best rock shows i've been to.

Their most recent album is scrubbed clean and sanitized for mass consumption just like Dan's haircut and shave. Don't want to be too raw. Might scare the suburban mom's.
