The Avett Brothers released new album today!

Overall, it's a good album. I like most of the songs, except for "Paul Newman vs. The Demons". Like most bands, this new album is a bit of a departure from their last one. IMO they lost some of the bluegrassy feel in this album.
I bet I will love these new songs even more when they play in Tuscaloosa.

I like the whole album. I think from top to bottom it is better than I and Love and You. That album just has a few songs that are epic.
Favorites: The Once and Future Carpenter, Down with the Shine.
Paul Newman would be incredible to see live.

Long time Avetts fan. Once and Future Carpenter is a great song here. Also like Down with the Shine. Some of the rest of the album seems bland to me, almost like it could have been made by any other band. I guess the 'punkgrass' days are gone...

Still on my first lap through since I just got off of work, but so far I'm liking it quite a lot.

Down with the Shine and Pretty Girl from Michigan are my favorites after 2 listens. I'm not so sure I'm all about the entire album as a whole, though. It's good, but I like their upbeat stuff much more than the sappy crap.
