Suwannee Hulaween Review

SCI was wonderful. I really enjoyed this festival. It was easily the most laid back festival I've been too. We go to Live Oak at 7am Friday morning. The people their told us to go find a place to camp between two trees and that was the only instructions. We found a great spot behind the main stage where there was an entrance.
The venue was so beautiful. The stages weren't too far away from each other so you could easily walk back and forth to every show and not miss anything.
String Cheese threw down for their Halloween show. They played Sympathy for the Devil, a very funky Ghost Busters, Time Will Tell, Live and Let Die (with a great pyrotechnics display), Just Passing Thru, Stairway to Heaven, Don't Fear the Reaper, Break on Through, Live and Let Die(reprise), and ended with Thriller. They had a giant zombified Michael Jackson come out of the back of the stage which was just breath taking on all of the hallucinogens.
The Antibalas Horns were awesome. Cheese also played with Rhonda Thomas who has an amazing voice. On Saturday Keller sat in with Cheese and played Franklins Tower and then Dominic Lali (BigG) sat in and they played River Trance.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky the whole time we were there. It got pretty cold Satirsay and Sunday night but it was still awesome.

Aura fest looks awesome. Moe, Papadosio, Disco Biscuits, Mike Dillon Band. And I don't know if you have ever camped their. But it truly is amazing. I recommend getting a spot on the lake. They had what we called 'a Hippie Playground'. They had lights lighting up the whole lake. There were many different art pieces from Burning Man. Just a whole bunch of different things to look at and enjoy, especially with the assistance of L and Deemsters.

JRAD was awesome. He played a great 'Truckin' and 'Franklins Tower'. It was a great way to end the festival.

I've been getting an ear full about the weekend from the neighborhood but it sounds like it was an all around good time.
I will be listening to the weekend over the next couple days to provide a better insight but based off what I heard, it seems like the usual party atmosphere of cheese was there.

all good but none of then have the Official MB Seal of Quality so I'm saving my judgement for my listening. I'm sure it was a blast. Those grounds are still my favorite of any festy.

That was one of the highlights of their sets. Everyone in the park was dancing.
That place is my new favorite. The perfect weather had a lot to do with it. But it truly was an amazing and beautiful place.
I'm interested to know what your thoughts are on their performance. The visual part of the Halloween show put it over the edge and was one of the best sets I have ever seen.

So far I've only listened to the Halloween show but overall it is pretty good stuff. They butchered a few songs during the halloween set (see Don't Fear The Reaper) but i doubt anybody noticed or really cared. Very energetic show though.
The first set started off with a great Restless Wind and went straight into a must listen Joyful Sound. I really don't even like Joyful Sound but they have been using it as a good jam vehicle this year. Honestly the first 4-5 songs were great and then it dropped off a little bit.
The Halloween set wasn't much fun to listen to but I'm sure being there and not knowing what was coming next added some lure to it. Ghostbusters was awesome. Live and Let Die is just a crap song so I skipped that one.
The last set began with fiya. Ms. Brown's>Hollywood Swingin' was great. Kang Kong was shreddin' face on You've Got The World. Hotel Window ending with a bang. Way Back Home was probably the highlight of the set. I love that long ambient build up to a melter that they do for this song.
Not much of a fan of Just One Story but I liked the selection of Superstition to close it out.
All around it seemed like it would've been a fun show to attend. I would've liked to see all the stage theatrics that they use during these Halloween runs. Everything i've heard about Hulaween says that they really set up the forrest nicely.

I agree with you on the Halloween set. I just enjoyed it so much because of the visuals and literally after every song played I has to go pee but they kept coming back with a new cover. Not knowing what song was coming next added a lot more suspense.

I will say I wish they had played Colorado Bluebird Sky. I could have done without the Bollymunster closing out the second day. But I guess that song is the closest they have to any Big Gigantix type music and they said they wanted to get us ready for them.
