I think they should get 3 if Phish got 3

I agree, but that Phish show was a real treat. Someone was telling me that was the longest set in J Fest history. I'll take 2.5 hours of the Cheese in that case.

I feel a lot of people feel that way. Kind of a bummer they're playing on Thursday

If SCI had as big of a name as Phish they would. But they aren't as big of a money grab as Phish, which is all really Jazzfest cares about. The two hours of SCI will be 10x better than the almost 3 hours of Phish you can be certain of that

True but they are just as "Jammy". Maybe not when Phish busts out a 25-35 minute jam but they didn't do that Saturday and I believe it was because they were crippled by time restrictions. So I'm worried that will hinder Cheese too.

How exactly is that possible?

Anyway the lineup (sans Flowtribe) is pretty sweet for the Acura on Thursday. New Orleans Suspects->Dirty Dozen Brass Band->SCI has some serious potential. I guess Jake Eckert (guitarist for both Suspects and DD) will be playing both back to back.

My only concern is if they try to squeeze in all their new songs instead of bringing the heat like they normally.

You'd probably like them since they have a little untz when the sun goes down and they slip in that EOTO garbage. I wouldn't judge them off of the Thursday show. You should really catch them in a venue. They are the best band I have seen as far as feeling the energy of the crowd and expressing that through their playing.

Phish set wasn't that bad, set 2 had some real good music in it.

Anyway, can't wait to rock some cheese again thursday....

They are a lot of fun. Their stuff does get a little old for me personally but at festivals or a couple times a year they are great.

based on history, SCI doesn't slack off on festy sets. Their ACL, Hangout, Bonnaroo, Rothbury, etc sets are all great shows

I'll definitely have to check them out. I really felt like the sound was off especially at the beginning. I could barely hear Trey's guitar for at least the first 30 minutes. I was not as close as I was the second set but I wasn't that far away either.

Also, Kyle Hollingsworth band or whatever piano dudes band is called is awesome. Really really funky, someone posted a soundboard a few weeks back and I got to see them last year or early this year.
