I think Dennis Quaid was dating a girl in BR some years after that in the 90’s. Anyway he was in town around that time and wound up staying at a friend of mine’s duplex near LSU. My best friend took him to the Gator Bar on Sunday night and got all fricked up. DQ got up and sang with the band and all. They go back to my buddy’s place and were smoking pot. My buddy said the last thing he remembered that night before passing out was DQ taking a hit from a pipe and saying “there ain’t nothing left in here but stems and seeds”
DQ has seemingly turned things around and is living a fairly clean life these days. I don't want it to turn into a bash session, but it was an open secret that he loved the white powder, strong drink, women and weed in those days. It just is what it is.

I was offered a ticket to that show in ATL at the Fox that ended up being his last. I passed.
The wife and I managed to see him on his last tour. We would've gone and seen MJ, too, but he didn't make it to his tour.

Do y’all really feel bad when a guy that never had to work in his life dies of a drug overdose? Most of us don’t even have that option because we can’t do drugs because we have work tomorrow

I have no idea what or who you’re talking about. I don’t know that anyone on my list definitely died from an OD, and, besides, they all worked hard at their craft. You don’t snap your finger and become a star. Lasting success in music takes hard work and is life consuming.
ETA: oops, supposedly, Hendrix’s death was drug related, but it nevertheless was sad that he succumbed to drugs. He didn’t have an easy life. He also was an army veteran, so he didn’t always live a life of leisure…

Tom petty and jimi were drug overdoses
Levon and Charlie watts and Lou reed were like 80 something which isn’t really a sad ending
John Lennon getting shot counts I guess
