There is a set of bands labeled "Groups who wrote a small selection of all-time great songs but who otherwise wrote a bunch of forgettable dross." U2 is in this set. So is the Cure.

Dross, what a ridiculous word to use.
This band has been relevant for nearly 50 years. Just got off of massively successful world tour and released highly acclaimed new music.
It’s best to say it’s just not your type of music because it honestly sounds like you are the typical radio only listener.
