This over the years has had a following and lots of people point to it as an inspiration point. What do y’all think of it? It’s listed as essentially the starting point of post rock. I guess I can agree with that. The soft then loud fits. And I think the dark undertone with him sort of quietly talking into the mic is neat

The three tracks you listed are all brilliant. Other tracks aren’t quite as captivating. The climax of Good Morning, Captain when he screams “I miss you”....holy shite!

goat. I will always be amazed at how young, and goofy they were when they made this massive beast. You see them, and wonder, how the frick did these guys create this sound?
Hard to choose a favorite off this album, but lately I’ve been going with Washer

And they’d broken up before Spiderland was even released. They considered it just a blip in time and that it’d soon be forgotten but were wrong and surprised at how long it kept meaning something to people.
Washer is great too

Yeah, I’m sure fans have already seen the 2014 documentary that was released with the remastered reissue of the album, but if someone hasn’t seen it I highly recommend it. Great documentary called Breadcrumb Trail.
I’ve also always loved The track Glenn, off their untitled EP. Glenn

Remember hearing this record for the first time in 2005ish and was like “how did these youngsters make this monolith of an album”
Then after further investigation they were involved in a good dozen bands.
A lot of bands copied them

I’ve listened to this album at least five times since this thread. I remember it being a fantastic album, but I forgot just how fantastic it is. Is there a better album closer than Good Morning, Captain?
I watched the documentary too. It was a good watch.

This thread made me go back and listen to Tweez... I think I enjoy it more now then I did back then...
Off subject, but today has been a Polvo rabbit hole... Today's Active Lifestyles, to the uninitiated and if you are so inclined...

We should make a post-rock thread and keep it bumped on the main page or something. I have a regular rotation of albums, but I always forget to include some of my favorite post-rock stuff because I have to be in the right mood to listen to it. It is good to be reminded to listen to all this amazing work that goes unheralded in the broader music mainstream.
