I couldn't get through the first three tracks the first time
and the second time isn't much different. He tries way too hard here. He's been Kardashianed. Not my bag.

I liked the whole album. But, then again I liked most of 808 and heartbreak. I really like this album, every now and again you need something to come in and break the monotony.
If you pay attention to the lyrics on the first track he tells you what to expect from the album. The album was never about the lyrics, it was about the music. FWIW I'm not the biggest Kanye fan, but this album is on point.

808s remains my favorite album of his. I feel it's a little bloated and lacking the introspective that Kanye has previously shown. I don't have an issue with experimentation, but this feels like it's trying too hard to be different. I feel like he's actually mimicking a sound that's never been his and he doesn't capture it well.
(ETA:Blood on the Leaves is a good track)
Maybe I'll get another shot down the road.

This whole time I thought I was the only person on the planet that has 808s as their favorite yeezy album.

Blood on the leaves is borrowed from Billie Holiday's song " Strange Fruit" in the song strange fruit refers to black men that were lynched in this country. It was basically a protest song
Southern trees bear a strange fruit,

Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees
The reason I asked is because you mentioned that you didn't think this album isn't like the normal introspective Ye' people have come accustomed to. I tend to disagree with that, I think the majority of the songs on this album deal with Kanye's struggle with his faith and the material world he is a part of. Songs like I am God, Hold my Liqour, and Bound 2 display that he is still the introspective Ye' he always has been, but the package it's in is so different it takes a while to digest the whole of this album.

It's a good explanation of the first song on the album. That quote is the an interpretation of the songs lyrics, not someones actual beliefs.

Most people don't seem to realize kanye wanted people to hate it because he knew most people wouldn't understand it. I think the album is pretty good, he made the music he wanted and didn't care what anybody else thought
