Anyone use these?

I've heard a lot of good things, I have a Martin D28 and have the Eastman variant of an HD28.

Mostly play bluegrass and old country, pretty much all flatpicking and strumming and like a bassy sound overall.

I'm probably about to give them a try, on one of my guitars.

Have a set on test right now. They're a couple months old and needing to be changed. So the test is about over. It'll be complete when I change over to D'Addario which will be my point of reference. Note: I usually get a couple months, so I've seen nothing good nor bad here. They are the lights and I'll be going to lights.

The guitar came with them on and I love the way they sound and feel... real big sound.

So I restrung with them again to see how a new set sounded. Not much different so they probably were not dead on purchase. As for feel they definitely bend easier than anything I've ever used before and with what seems much more sustain. Of course not electric sloppy but obviously different. However it's a new to me 12 fret, slot head, slope shoulder and I'm not sure how much to attribute to the strings and how much to the guitar. Supposedly (I've read) this style has a somewhat different break angle to the strings so not sure how much is guitar.

I'll put the new one's on this week, started to today, but got busy and didn't get the chance. And then I'll know a lot more.

Tried a set on my 000-15 SM.
Sounded and felt OK. Kept them on about month.
Went back to Martin Retros Monel strings.
Didn’t find that much difference from lesser priced phosphor bronze strings.
I have another set I’ll probably try on a different guitar.

Have anyone ever put electric strings on a acoustic? Is it waste of time and money? I say this because I struggle with strings.

fwiw - I hate putting them on and I need to learn more about them.

I did that once, years ago. I liked it for a little while, but when they wore out, I went back to acoustic strings. It will be a little easier on your fingers, but remember, the smaller gauge strings will sit a little lower in the notches of the nut, so if your action is real close you could get some string buzz.

thoughts
Waited a week to get past initial break in.

Overall I liked the SC strings, nothing bad apart from price, however didn't notice a big enough feel difference (if at all) or the much taunted separation in sound. Even felt like bass response might have been better with the D'Addario's; however that wasn't supposedly a design criteria for t he SC strings. They might have bent a little easier but that was more a function of the new guitar.

Have another pair to try on another guitar so will update again if I like them any better.
