The founder of Texas’ 13th Floor Elevators and the maker of pure rock ‘n roll music throughout the ‘80’s...and one of the greatest Halloween records ever.

I really hate to hear that. Love the 13th Floor Elevators.

I got to see him open for Black Angels a few years ago. Good show and glad I got to see him.

Don’t Shake me Lucifer

“The Evil One” is the best Halloween album ever.

Really sad to hear this. I discovered Roky’s music thanks to Ghost’s cover of ‘If You Have Ghosts’ a few years ago. Caught up on a lot of his stuff since then. He toured maybe a year or two ago, coming through New Orleans once, and unfortunately I found out after the fact. Wasn’t very well publicized. The documentary was great, and really showed how torchered of a soul he was. Probably due in no small part to some heavy drug use back in the day. Glad he seemed to turn it around a bit in recent years and receive some love from mainstream musicians. Hope he rests in peace.

Yes! Marco, who started this thread, actually put me on this record, and I was in love from the first few blistering guitar notes of “Two Headed Dog”. I’ve since dug deep into his catalogue, and he’s become one of my favorite artists at the moment. Been jammin’ his stuff since I heard the news yesterday...

And not gimmicky either...the production on that album (by Stu Cook, bassist from Creedence Clearwater Revival) is top notch.

Both The Aliens and The Explosives were very tight backing bands.
