NOOOOOOOOOO. This guy doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. That skinny Strat tone though.....

Exactly what I've always thought as well.

That Skynyrd doc that just came out is legit as hell

King used to stock up on beef jerky and then sell it to the band on long road trips

I used to do the same thing with dime bags

RIP Ed

RIP. Pretty sure he wrote the guitar intro that made the song.

I caught it on demand this week. I think on Showtime. It’s really good.

Ed King was touring with Stawberry Alarm Clock opening for The Beach Boys. He was tired of going from hotel to arena and back to hotel, and never seeing any of the places across America they were playing.

He wanted a taste of southern culture so he wanders around Jacksonville and catches Skynyrd playing somewhere. They were just kids with no record deal or any type of buzz.

He was in an up and coming band on a national tour, and he told them to give him a call if they ever needed another guitarist.

I heard an interview with him a while back, and claimed he could live comfortably on just his Sweet Home Alabama residuals. He also co-wrote a couple of other hits.

Yeah he was way different from the southern boys and his end with the band was unfortunate

Been watching the documentary the last two nights.
He seemed like the only clean and relatively sane member of the band

Had never heard that story about Drunk Ronnie Van Zandt going off on him. Pretty strong of him to say "I don't need this" and walk away from a band that was just getting huge.

The up side to that is he missed the plane crash. He joined again when they revived the group later, but developed heart trouble and had to quit the group again, he received a heart transplant some years ago.

The most underrated Skynyrd tune. This is one of my very favorites.

Lots of interesting videos with him on YouTube talking about his time in Skynyrd.

He may have felt differently considering less than two years after his departure, several members of the band were dead.

Dude had a great website and his Facebook Page was good too!

One of my favorite Ed King moments after Skynyrd was his appearance with “unknown Hinson”, check it out. Lol!

Ed King and Unknown Hinson... pretty funny!

You can see him in 'Beyond the Valley of the Dolls' on stage playing at a party with the Strawberry Alarm Clock. The SAC is one of my favorite all-time bands.
