While I know Tool has a huge following of loyal fans, their show live was, frankly, boring.

I saw them at Lollapalooza in 1993. They were anything but boring.

You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine.

Personally, while not a massive fan of any, I'd rank 'em...

1. Alice in Chains
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers
3. Tool
4. Rage Against the Machine

Absolutely, I’m not trying to argue or debate, just sharing a different experience.

AIC is the best
Tool probably has the largest cult following

Commercial success would be RHCP though

Rage was cool for about 5 minutes then proceeded to suck

This. I don't mind Rage but are they belong in any category with the other three?

4) Rage
I base this pretty much by popularity/longevity too. Not necessarily based on who I like or who is better.

Probably this

I wonder why these 4. They are all very different.

Hard to pick between RHCP and Tool, but my list would be:

RHCP>Tool>AIC>Rage

AIC would probably be higher had layne not died.

Tool, but AIC is close for me.

I like a lot of the RHCP stuff, but they're harder to take seriously. Same is true of Rage.

AIC is the most legendary bc Layne died. You don't get to see people sell out and lose the spark when they flame out young. That being said, RHCP and Tool are also great to me. Rage can EAD, they suck and always have.

Probably the Peppers just based on longevity and popularity.

Correct answer

Tool might also be in the mix. They are incredible at every chapter

After layne passed away AIC stood no chance, but by far favorite of the group.
Cantrell was an absolute beast and the best of his era alongside Fruscianti
