Those live versions of Third Eye and Pushit are 2 of the best things they’ve ever done.
Not to mention that cover of No Quarter, the best song on there.
Hell, I even like L.A.M.C. because it's hilarious.

Salival is one of my favorite albums ever. Weird it's not up.
Maynard's Dick is a great song.
Pushit Salival is one of the best recorded songs ever

Does anyone here actually own Salival? Those were pretty rare, right?

I have it. You Lied is an awesome track too. The Peach cover from Justin's last band.

Just the CD was on Ebay a few years ago for $40

I still have my vhs/CD box set.

It’s the box set that was rare I think. Looks like they go for over $100 on eBay. Not as bad as I expected.

For those that care... Tool is supposed to release the new album cover tomorrow.
I’d imagine the first single will come on Friday.

Opiate and 10k days don't get enough love from the Tool army.
I'm going to listen to Opiate because of your post. 10k days has been growing on me. Mainly because of Right in Two. But, considering the 100s of times I've listened to Undertow, Ænima and Lateralus, I should balance that out some.

Man the live performance of Opiate in New Orleans a couple of years ago was incredible.

Sounds like they're going extra pretentious this time

The LP, TOOL's fifth full-length album, will sport seven tracks but will run an astounding 80 minutes, with virtually none of the songs adhering to the standard format for a radio single. As for the concept of the disc, Jones said it came to revolve around the number seven.
Jones explained: "I took a picture pointing to the number seven while we were recording, and a lot of the riffs Justin [Chancellor, bassist] and I brought in were in seven. You don't really go, 'I'm going to write a riff in seven!'" He added, "Without being too descriptive about the concept, the main thing is that the seven beat just kept coming up, and riffs in seven kept coming up. It was really weird!"
Jones continued: "Then Maynard [James Keenan, singer] told me about a whole concept he had about the number seven. We were all, like, 'Oh my God! This is too weird!' Then Alex Grey [TOOL album artist] basically said the same thing and he has a concept that will reveal itself through video."

I actually find myself listening to Undertow the least.

Psh, Mars Volta had a 5 song album almost 15 years ago that was nearly the same length in minutes. Tool needs to step up there game.

It may be their most consistent LP for my money. It doesn't have the highs of Ænima, Lateralus or even 10k Days, but very, very consistent.

In the dictionary next to the word "redundant" it says, "See redundant."

They've been doing math rock for decades and this makes you think they're going extra pretentious?

Huge Volta fan here. That 75-80 minute album had about 45 minutes of actual music in it.

The need to trim three minutes off the runtime, 7 songs, 77 minutes.

I forgot that if you include the decoder title track that was released separately, it's like over 90 minutes!
I don't know about you, but the last couple minutes of the widow and first 4 minutes of Miranda are some of the best moments of the album!
End derail
