Would it have been better for him to have died from food poisoning like Michael Jackson did ?

Yes, yes it would have been better Prince had died of food poisoning than an opiate overdose. Michael Jackson died from an assisted propofol addiction.

The best overall musician of our time. Not even close. Not the greatest guitar player ever but that is not the point. He played an amazing guitar but no one could make the guitar sound cooler and more different than Prince. He had so many different sounds over the years. No 2 albums were ever alike. Someone asked about a list of good songs. Too many to type, including a ton of B Side hidden tunes that are amazing.

I guess I think he’d have preferred that over an unintentional OD.

I've just never 'gotten' Prince. I like only a handful of his songs and I need to be in one goofy arse mood to even play those....like on a playlist preceded by Wang Chung's "Dance Hall Days" and followed by The Violent Femmes' "Blister in the Sun".

He was a helluva an entertainer but his music has never even been close to being up my alley. As far as him being "the best guitarist", foh with that bullshite.

Anybody who knows music will tell you mike (or virtually anyone else) wasn't even a pimple on Prince's arse musically.

Thought he was relevant about 35 years ago for a hot minute, and now that music is so dated and silly. Try listening to When Doves Cry or Kiss.

You are high dude. If KISS came out for the first time ever today, it would rocket to number one within a week or two. It might be the number one ranked song out of all the number one ranked songs ever. By the way, there is so, so, much more to Prince than the string of hits he had. His musicianship was unparalleled.

Make a list of his biggest hits. It isn’t all that long.

So hits determine what type of songwriter/musician someone is? Interesting.

He was about 18-19

When he signed with Warner, he was given the largest deal in the history of the label.....at 18. They flew him to LA and put him in the studio with Ted Templeman who had produced The Doobies, Van Halen, Clapton and others. After a couple of days, he went back to the Warner executives and told them....he doesn't need me. What do you mean he doesn't need you? Well, the first day I watched him write a song on piano, then play the drums, bass, guitar, sing the lead and then sing his on backing vocals. And then for his encore he mixed the fricking song himself.

He doesn't need me.......he doesn't need anyone. 19 fricking years old and during a time when you actually had to play all the instruments. NO PRO TOOLS.

The guy was a genius.
