Will it be "classic pop"? 
i really have no idea. probably none. i guess it depends on your definition of pop. i think most country music is pop and some of those songs may be around for a while, possibly.
maybe some Beyonce or something.

I haven't heard much in the way of pop. I try not to. If I had to guess of one song that will remain timeless to all teenyboppers and college dance clubs and sorrostitute's IPODS when they run, then look no further than "Firework" by Katie Perry.

Every song currently on 102.5 will still be played on 102.5 10-15 year from now. They never change ther rotation

I shite you not, I was listening to Eagle 98.1 at about 2 AM two nights ago and "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd came on. Now, I know that Eagle is trying to branch out and update what is considered "classic", but I thought hearing that was 100 percent stupid. I hear some Pearl Jam, Tool, and Nirvana every once in a while. Hell, "Firewoman" by the Cult was on yesterday and I accepted that -- 1989 and very rock n roll. Puddle of Mudd "Blurry" is from 2002, I believe. That's not classic.
Point to this and relating it to your point and the thread is that on commercial radio stations, we're going to have "classic pop", I believe. That's what Puddle Of Mudd on 98.1 pretty much was. I know that teenage girls know and love that song. Then, "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills, and Young and "Flirtin' With Disaster" by Molly Hatchet follow a song from 2002 and you start to think, "huh?"
because Eagle 98.1 advertises itself as Baton Rouge's best Classic Rock. They do not go by "The blend of 4 generations of music" or "A little bit of it all" but that's where they are headed. This post was edited on 6/28/12 at 1:32 pm

If I can go back a little farther, Hey Ya for sure. That's one of the catchiest and most universally loved pop songs I can remember.

Hey Ya is one of the songs that I find to be the most interesting. It isn't even my favorite Outkast song, but I find it fascinating because Hey Ya is like an ethnic/racial common denominator. It breaks down boundaries. Everybody, no matter their race, color, or creed, will start bopping their head when Hey Ya comes on.

Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars" will be played on Eagle when we are all listening to classic rock as our regular source of tunes. That song has replay value.
