What's the best way to do this?

1. Go buy a surround receiver with Spotifiy built-in. A Denon AVR-E400 is a good one for the money.
or
2. Plug phone/tablet/computer into a stereo input on your receiver with proper cable. Put source on that input and play away. You can put receiver on 5-channel stereo or in some sort of processing mode depending upon what your receiver supports...i.e. Pro Logix IIx Music. But if you have full range fronts, I wouldn't do anything but regular stereo, no reason to have a bunch of software muck up the sound just to hear it out of 6 speakers instead of 2.
You could also accomplish 2 with an Airport Express via AirPlay...or most of the newer receivers have AirPlay built in.

I bought this... Yamaha Bluetooth Adapter
Any audio I can play on my phone I can play on my stereo. Works great.

If the source is in stereo you should listen to it in stereo. Spotify doesn't broadcast in 5.1 does it?
