The Tweezer from ALO can be pretty intimidating to a n00b though

I still think it is a good introduction to Phish though. Yeah the Tweezer is a slight curveball but I mean what part about them isn't peculiar. Everything leading up to that Tweezer presents Phish pretty well and then the Tweezer itself will show how obscure they can become.

When people ask about where to start with Phish I usually go with ALO.

That Tweezer was what really got me into Phish

For a long time I just knew studio songs from shite my brother and his friends would play, and then like sophomore or junior year of high school we get stoned as shite and listened to that Tweezer. that experience made me really "get" what live Phish can be all about. The Tweezer and that Hood from ALO. That's the shite right there.

That 94/95 style of jamming in that Tweezer is the heart and soul of what Phish really is. That 45 minute all over the place hardcore improv stuff is real arse Phish.

The Mike's and Cavern from that show are the two songs that got me into Phish

For me it was Chalk Dust Torture, Twist, and Taste from that run. Still some of my favorites.
