The YouTube channel Drumeo just dropped a two hour doc/interview featuring Phil, his son, and a bunch of other titans behind the kit.

When his son starts playing the open toms on the kit they got from his old drum tech, I said to myself, "That's the In The Air Tonight sound!", and then a few minutes later Phil says that's the same kit he used on it

It's fascinating to hear his parts on some of the early Genesis stuff without the other instruments. You really get a sense of just how much of a bad arse he was as a drummer. A staggering talent.

Drumeo is such a great channel.

It's heartbreaking to see Phil so frail and weak. Reminds me of my mom in the last couple years before she passed. I've been a fan since I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s. I guess that makes it more poignant to me.

frick, he looks old, like a lot older than his 73 years. Has he been sick?

Grocery shopping soundtrack first.

Seems like I can't walk into any grocery store without hearing his sappy prom music.

I absolutely loved him with early Genesis. Foxtrot, A Trick of the Tail, Nursery Cryme, Selling England...all fantastic albums.

Believe he has some type of degenerative bone disease.

Excellent doc/video. Grew up with Phil soundtrack always there. Forgot just how many hits he has. The failsafe is “In the Air” but damn there’s a lot more bangers.
Also, his son drumming now is amazing and dude is only 23.
