Some guy in Seoul, Korea made an absolute monster of an album in his bedroom that came out a month ago and has been gaining a ton of hype. I realize this doesn’ have widespread appeal here, but if you like My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, M83, Car Seat Headrest, etc. I’d highly recommend checking this out. It’s great.

It definitely has the production of a guy that made this in his bedroom, but it doesn’t bother me. Reminds me of early Car Seat Headrest in that sense.

I've been listening to this record based on your suggestion and the comments, here. It really is very good! I like the heavy guitars layered with the ambient sounds; it's powerful, yet dreamy. I'm not even bothered by the language barrier. Good stuff.

For anyone that enjoyed them, Parannoul has released a new album today, Downfall of the Neon Youth. This one has a few other collaborators on the album. I haven’t listened yet, but it seems to be getting a lot of praise.

Lightning Bug- A Color of the Sky is another one from this year you may want to check out. Much more dream pop than shoegaze.
