at least Martins use a dovetail type neck joint, and is the easier type to do.
Believe it's the other way around. A dovetail type joint makes it much stronger and supposedly (yea/nay) more resonant; however they require better technique to correct and more work to repair. The D18's (and such) have this joint while their d16's use a bolt on. Like Taylor uses.

Fretshack can tell me yes or no... But the dovetail joint reset requires removing the fret board and the bolt on does not.

Nice guitar - BTW

yep, now that you mention it, that is a lot of saddle. A lot of the older players just played 'em that way, I've noticed, especially bluegrass players.

Makes it more boomie big... for playing without electric power. Look up, 'string angle break saddle'. You can get bored.

Appreciate the compliments on the guitar.

And Fret, I'll definitely come by soon. We will work something in next week.

Yeah, I wasn't really including the bolt on neck, but was comparing the dove tail neck joint, to the dowel set neck joint. Of those two, it's my understanding that the dovetail is easier.

I think the bolt on neck might be a newer innovation, compared to the other two. That's just what I have gathered, from an old man that builds and repairs guitars.
