Good God man. I just got a heard an early stream of the new album that will be released in about 7 days. Is anyone a fan of them? They have two singles out to the general public right now. It's unbelievable even if you aren't a fan of them.

If anybody doesn't know who they are, they're a Finnish symphonic metal band that's been around since 1996. If you want an idea of what it sounds like, it's a good bit like Dream Theater's Octavarium album, except with an orchestra. One of the singles is a 6 minute ball buster of a track entitled:

Shudder Before The Beautiful

They don't really get that much press that I'm aware of but it really is a good listen.

nemo My brother is a huge fan and turned me on to Nightwish. After the lead singer Tarja left I lost interest because I didn't like her replacement. ( Olzon) Since they have replaced her now with Floor Jansen I'll start paying more attention. Tarja was the best though. Nemo from Once got alot of air play around here.

There is an instrumental release with the deluxe version of the album if that is the case for you. However, if you purchase the album like that seperately, then instead of the album itself being 2 dollars extra, it will be around 13-14 dollars.

Great fricking track.

I'd still take Within Temptation anyday, though.

ETA:

And they are totally taking a page out of WT's book with the spoken into.

No Tarja no care although i do like Floor. Just not the same. Best voice ever along with Sharon den Adel. Floor is close too.

Yeah.... It's nuts.

Serious vocal talent. Guitar reminds me of classic Scorpions a little, to boot.

Within Temptations last album was absolute garbage. This Nightwish album makes WT look like a high school band. One of their more technical releases as you'll find out about midway through the album.

Hydra? Not my favorite.

I liked The Unforgiving, though.

Nightwish and WT are yin and yang. Nightwish has softer vocals, IMO - So they go for hard edge instrumentation. Den Adel has an edgier voice (and more power) - So they don't go as technical on instrumentation.

Potato/Tomato

You should just be happy there are people on this board who have listened to either, much less both.
