Roger sounds great for his age.
Autotune and tape backups can do that for anyone. Hell, everyone touring these days has tons and tons of help with their "live" sets.
Roger never really sounded "great" - more of a vocal stylist than singer. But he made that work, back in the day.
I mean, for frick's sake, Don Felder sings a passable Hotel California and Victim of Love in his live sets, for example - autotuned like a MF and there isn't a bigger Don Felder fan than me.

I've heard this about auto-tuning for some of these older artists, but is there any proof for Roger? Same with McCartney.
I agree that Rogers vocals have never been exceptional, as far as range and style, but he does have a unique style and his execution was great, which is what I meant.

Well, I can only encourage you to watch the Live 8 show (which seems to go against my general rule that everybody touring now uses help live - but that was, what, 12 years ago?) - do you really think Roger's voice has improved with age. He barely got through a 4-song set and sounded bad from the first syllable.
I recognize his genius, but I also want to keep my eyes and ears open.

Young singers have bad vocal performances sometimes, for many reasons. That doesn't mean they've "lost it." Sometimes monitors are not loud enough, illness, or just an off night, etc. Plus, at Live 8, some of what Waters sange were vocals that Gilmour did on WYWH. Him and Gilmour don't have the same range, and he didn't sing most of Gilmour's parts in the show a few days ago.
You are probably right that he does have some help, but I'd rather not use circumstantial evidence.

Saw his show a few days ago and wow. I was blown away. All the hype I've heard about his shows was legit. It was easily one of the most well produced shows I've ever seen, and the sound was perfect. Roger sounds great for his age. I wasn't expecting Great Gig in the Sky, but it was amazing. This was easily one of the top 5 shows I've ever been to.
love to hear good reviews, can't wait for Saturday

Would say not true for Bruce Dickinson, still sounds great.

Massive doses of acid have rendered him unable to tell reality from hallucination. He's turning into Syd.
He is the same guy from 40 years ago, as this record proves.

Did he play all 28 minutes of dogs and pigs?

Saw Waters in Atlanta back about 20 years ago. His solo version of The Wall and other PF stuff. He was OK. His voice has started to go.
I listened to his new album. I would say its more like The Wall than anything but he certainly tried to throw a few other things in there.
David Gilmour's solo stuff is so much better. His voice has always been better to me. I cant say I like Roger and never really did. I love his creativeness but his constant anti-establiment bullshite made him the huge douche he has always been.
I also get that it was the driving force for his creativeness but damn man, get over it.

I don't care for Gilmour's solo stuff. The songs are just boring and cheesy. He has a great voice, no doubt, but the songwriting is poor. Roger was the brains behind Pink Floyd and wrote most of their material (after Syd).
I love Syd's stuff too, but it's pretty much a completely different band with him as leader.

Ya and though waters is a dick, i don't really have trouble accepting that and also loving the music. And, having never seen any Floyd stuff live, I am very excited.
